Obverse description : Hercules soulève Antée, les deux hommes de profil tournés vers la droite. Derrière eux, la peau du lion de Némée et un pillier enflammé avec un trident vers le bas, et au sol, la massue d’Hercules et un crâne..

Commentary


Sous sachet scellé avec sa boite bleue cartonnée de la Monnaie de Paris.
André VAUTHIER-GALLÉ obtient le premier grand prix de Rome en gravure de médaille et pierre fine en 1839 pour Hercule étouffant Antée. Il travaille pour l’Atelier général du timbre de 1837 à 1878 et expose au Salon des artistes français de 1852 à 1862.

In a sealed bag with its blue cardboard box from the Paris Mint. André VAUTHIER-GALLÉ won the first Grand Prix de Rome in medal and fine stone engraving in 1839 for Hercules suffocating Antaeus. He worked for the Atelier général du timbre from 1837 to 1878 and exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1852 to 1862.
