CILICIA - SELEUKEIA OF KALYKADNOS

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The city was founded by Seleucus I, general of Alexander III the Great by absorbing the population of Holmoi on the course of the Calycadnos river. The city was very important in the Hellenistic period and imposed itself as the rival of Tarsus.
