Historical background


(Fourth century BC)

Célendéris, important coastal city of Cilicia Trachea, located halfway Nagidos and Aphrodisias is said to have been founded by Sandokos. It was later colonized by the Samians. Its standard Persian coinage begins in the middle of the fifth century and lasted until the arrival of Alexander the Great in Asia Minor.
