Ce denier est frappé sur un flan irrégulier. Exemplaire recouvert d’une légère patine grise. Petit éclatement de flan à 9 heures se prolongeant sous la forme d’une infime craquelure. La croix du revers apparaît légèrement en négatif au droit

CHÂTEAUDUN - VISCOUNTCY OF CHÂTEAUDUN - THIBAUT IV LE GRAND

(1102-1151)

Dominique Legros thinks that the viscounty of Châteaudun was under the influence of the counts of Blois and Chartres. Under Thibaut IV the Great, three viscounts succeeded each other in Châteaudun: Hugues III (1079-1110), Geoffroy III (1110-1136) and Hugues IV (1136-1166). The coin became Viscount in 1218 under Geoffroy V (1215-1235).
