Obverse description : Tête bléso-chartraine à droite entre deux croissants opposés, l'œil formé d'un besant ; le menton formé d'un epsilon renversé. Les cheveux sont symbolisés par cinq petits triangles renversés.

D. Legros thinks that the viscounty of Châteaudun was under the influence of the counts of Blois and Chartres. Under Thibaut V le Bon, three viscounts succeeded each other in Châteaudun: Hugues IV (1136-1166), Geoffroy IV (1166-1183) and Hugues V (1183-1215). The coin becomes Viscount from Geoffroy V (1215-1235) in 1218.
