Commentary


Charles Ferdinand d'Artois, né le 24 janvier 1778, épouse en 1816 en la cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, la princesse Caroline Ferdinande des Deux-Siciles (1798-1870), fille aînée de François Ier des Deux-Siciles (1777-1830) et de Clémentine d'Autriche (1777-1801), ensuite connue sous le nom de duchesse de Berry.
Il en eut deux enfants qui parveninrent à l'âge adulte :
- une fille, Louise d'Artois (1819-1864), qui épouse en 1845 Charles III de Parme, duc de Parme (fils de Charles II, duc de Parme et de Marie Thérèse de Savoie). Louise est la grand-mère paternelle de l'impératrice d'Autriche Zita.
- un fils posthume, Henri d'Artois (29 septembre 1820 † 1883), duc de Bordeaux, puis « comte de Chambord », qui épouse en 1846 Marie Thérèse de Modène (1817-1886) ; sans postérité, il est le dernier Bourbon descendant de Louis XV.
Format d’un quinaire et probablement jeté à la foule sur le parcours menant à l’église du cortège nuptial.

CAROLINA OF THE TWO-SICILIES, DUCHESS OF BERRY

(1798-1870)

Caroline (1798-1870) was the daughter of François I, King of the Two Sicilies (1825-1830). She married Ferdinand, Duke of Berry (1778-1820), in 1816 and gave him two children: Louise de Bourbon (1819-1864) and Henri V (1820-1883), born after the assassination of her father on September 29 1820.
