Coments on the condition:
Exemplaire sur un flan très large et ovale, parfaitement centré. Beau portrait particulier de frappe un peu molle. Très joli revers de style fin. Belle patine grise avec des reflets dorés

Reverse description : Rose en bouton, vu de face sur sa tige vue à gauche; , épi ; grènetis.

Commentary
Avec ce magistrat (Philiskos) nous avons trois combinaisons avec un coin de droit et trois coins de revers pour cinq exemplaires, donc avec un excellent indice charactéroscopique. Même coin de droit que l’exemplaire de la collection von Aulock (n° 2837). LE coin de revers semble nouveau.

(2nd - 1st century BC)
After the Peace of Apamea in 188 BC, Rhodes regained its independence. The island experienced twenty years of prosperity until the Romans proclaimed Delos a free port in 167 BC after the defeat of Perseus, king of Macedonia. The Rhodian fleet had supported the Macedonian king. Rhodian trade declined after this date. In 88 BC after the massacre of 80,000 Romans and Italians in Asia Minor, Mithridates VI, king of Pontus besieged Rhodes, without success.
