Exemplaire sur un flan très large, bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait avec une usure superficielle. Joli revers de style fin. Belle patine grise avec des reflets dorés

Commentary
Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire du musée de Stockholm. Avec ce nom de magistrat monétaire (Phainilas) nous avons vingt combinaisons avec cinq coins de droit, vingt-deux coins de revers et vingt-sept exemplaires.

(2nd - 1st century BC)
After the Peace of Apamea in 188 BC, Rhodes regained its independence. The island experienced twenty years of prosperity until the Romans proclaimed Delos a free port in 167 BC after the defeat of Perseus, king of Macedonia. The Rhodian fleet had supported the Macedonian king. Rhodian trade declined after this date. In 88 BC after the massacre of 80,000 Romans and Italians in Asia Minor, Mithridates VI, king of Pontus besieged Rhodes, without success.
