Exemplaire sur un flan mince et large, parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets à l’usure superficielle. Belle tête de Caracalla. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Patine grise superficielle

Obverse description : Buste radié et cuirassé de Caracalla à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (B4).

Reverse description : Pluton coiffé du modius, assis à gauche, la main gauche appuyée sur son sceptre, la droite étendue au-dessus de la tête de Cerbère.

Reverse translation : “Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestate duodevicesimum Consul quartum Pater Patriæ”, (Grand pontife revêtu de la dix-huitième puissance tribunitienne consul pour la quatrième fois père de la patrie).

Commentary

Poids très léger. Rubans de type 2. Ce denier fort rare est frappé à l’occasion des vœux pour le rétablissement de la santé de Caracalla. C’est la première fois que nous le proposons à la vente.
