Commentary
Les coins des premières pièces furent réalisés par Charles Wurden, graveur bruxellois, vers 1875, et cédés au roi. Les pièces frustes furent peut-être frappées sur place sur l'ordre de Norodom Ier. Elles étaient offertes lors de grandes manifestations. Ces pièces furent peut-être fabriquées et mises en circulation en 1899 au moment de l'incinération de la reine-mère décédée deux ans auparavant.
The dies of the first coins were made by Charles Wurden, a Brussels engraver, around 1875, and given to the king. The rough coins were perhaps struck on site on the orders of Norodom I. They were offered at major events. These coins were perhaps made and put into circulation in 1899 at the time of the cremation of the Queen Mother, who had died two years earlier.
