Exemplaire sur un flan large avec une tranche irrégulière qui laisse apparaître l’âme vile du métal. Joli revers avec une oxydation de surface sur le genou de Taras

Obverse description : Cavalier galopant à gauche, tenant un bouclier et une javeline transversale.

Reverse description : Taras nu, chevauchant un dauphin à gauche, un épi de la main droite ; un fer de lance tourné à droite sous le dauphin.
Reverse legend : TARAS/ ARI.

Commentary


Poids léger. Exemplaire fourré comme de nombreux nomos de la même période, (cf. V. 696, MONNAIES XIX, n° 9). Ce type se rencontre dans le trésor de Metaponto-Bernalda (IGCH 1958). Infime trace de cassure de coin visible au droit devant et entre les jambes du cheval.
