Exemplaire sur un petit flan, un peu court, mais néanmoins bien centré à l’usure régulière. Joli droit. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Recouvert d’une épaisse patine grise avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Cavalier nu au pas à droite, couronnant son cheval.

Reverse description : Taras nu, chevauchant un dauphin à gauche, tenant un canthare de la main droite et une corne d’abondance de la main gauche ; derrière, une torche de course allumée.

Commentary

Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire du Cabinet des médailles de la BnF (SNG. France 6./ 2013, pl. 125). Même coin de droit que l’exemplaire de l’American Numismatic Society (ANS. 1180, pl. 32) présentant la même cassure de coin de droit au niveau des antérieurs du cheval. Au revers, la torche de course allumée n’est pas sans rappeler la flamme olympique.
Same dies as the copy in the Cabinet des médailles of the BnF (SNG. France 6./ 2013, pl. 125). Same obverse die as the copy from the American Numismatic Society (ANS. 1180, pl. 32) with the same obverse die break at the level of the horse's forelegs. On the reverse, the lit racing torch is reminiscent of the Olympic flame.
