BRUTTIUM - Crotone

(Fifth century BC)

Crotone is an Achaean colony founded in 710 BC Under the direction of Milo of Croton seized the Sybaris they destroyed. In the next century as a result of infighting, the city declined before falling into the hands of Dionysius of Syracuse in 378 BC, then Agathokles in 296 BC and finally between those Pyrrhus in 277 BC It was conquered by the Romans during the Second Punic War after the battle of Cannae in 216 BC.
