Exemplaire sur un flan bien centré. Frappe un peu molle au droit. Joli revers de style fin bien venu à la frappe. Belle patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Apollon nu, les cheveux longs tombant en longues tresses sur l’épaule, marchant à droite, tenant de la main droite relevée un rameau ; un petit personnage courant à droite, les jambes ailées, tournant la tête à gauche, tenant un rameau ; devant les jambes d’Apollon, un cerf à droite tournant la tête à gauche.

(Fifth century BC)

Caulonia is an Achaean colony founded in the late seventh century BC Another tradition Caulonia a Croton colony. Caulon, son of Clete amazon is the eponymous hero of the city. The town was finally destroyed by Dionysius of Syracuse in 388 BC Its inhabitants were deported to Syracuse while its territory was annexed by the Locrians. The city of Caulonia was then rebuilt, but never regained its reputation of yesteryear.
