Bruttii the native people of Central Italy, settled in Bruttium based with local tribes Sicilians. The fourth and third centuries, they maintained their independence and fought against the Greek cities of Italy. Contacted the Romans during the struggle that opposed Pyrrhus (281-275 BC), they rallied to Hannibal during the Second Punic War (221-202 BC). After the departure of the Carthaginians, they found themselves face to the Romans who eventually integrate between 194 and 190 BC.
