BELGIUM - UNITED BELGIAN STATES
(1790)
The United Belgian States are a confederation of several member countries of the Austrian Netherlands which broke away from the authority of Emperor Joseph II in 1790. The union of the eleven provinces of the Southern Netherlands only lasted a year. From December 1790, the Austrians regained power militarily and entrusted it to the new Emperor Leopold II..
