Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau comes from a noble family of Swiss origin, he was born in 1559. His father was the imperial colonel and his mother Countess of Hohenems. It was his father who encouraged him to become a clergyman. He received the chapter of Salzburg at the age of 28 years, in 1587. He had ten children with the daughter of the mayor of Salzburg which prevented him from becoming cardinal. In 1611, he left enfluencer and tries a hand against Bavaria. Imprisoned, he died January 16, 1617 after a captivity of five years.
