Obverse description : Tête humaine stylisée à gauche, les cheveux figurés par trois lignes ; un petit sanglier suspendu à la joue ; derrière la tête, un annelet centré.

Reverse description : Cheval stylisé bondissant à droite ; un oiseau, corbeau au-dessus du cheval, encadré par deux annelets centrés ; sous le cheval, un sanglier tourné à droite.

Commentary

Contrairement à tous les exemplaires que nous avons déjà proposé, avec l’oiseau stylisé au-dessus du cheval, cet exemplaire correspond exactement au DT. 2459. les autres n’ont pas le double annelet à la place de l’oiseau. Le type à l’oiseau est nettement plus courant (= LT. 7021 et 7029) mais manque au Nouvel Atlas ainsi qu’au supplément.
Le DT. 2459 constitue la Var 1 de cette série et référence en LT. 7021 et 7029 (var).
Cette monnaie dérive des hémistatères au sanglier, avec le même type de tête et le petit sanglier dans la coiffure. Le style du cheval est vraiment très proche de ces hémistatères.
Unlike all the copies we have already proposed, with the stylized bird above the horse, this copy corresponds exactly to DT. 2459. The others do not have the double ringlet in place of the bird. The type with the bird is clearly more common (= LT. 7021 and 7029) but is missing from the New Atlas as well as from the supplement. DT. 2459 constitutes Var 1 of this series and referenced in LT. 7021 and 7029 (var). This coin derives from the boar hemistateria, with the same type of head and the small boar in the headdress.
