Très intéressante monnaie sur un flan large, mais un peu court par rapport à la taille du coin de droit. Frappe vigoureuse, avec de beaux reliefs. Patine brune, un peu hétérogène par endroits

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Tête humaine stylisée à gauche, les cheveux figurés par trois lignes parallèles ; derrière, quatre globules et une croisette ; au-dessous, un fleuron ; cordon perlé sur la joue.

Reverse description : Cheval stylisé bondissant à droite, avec les restes de l'aurige au-dessus du cheval ; sous le cheval, un loup ; les restes d'un vexillum devant le poitrail.
Commentary
Sur cet hémistatère, la joue est très nettement tatouée. La frappe est un peu décentrée sur la gauche, mais les différents motifs de la coiffure sont parfaitement visibles.

GALLIA - AULERCI EBUROVICES (Area of Évreux)
(3rd - 1st century BC)
The Aulerci were subdivided into three tribes: Aulerci Diablintes, Aulerci Cenomani and Aulerci Éburovices. The territory of Aulerques Éburovices corresponds to the current department of Eure. They are quoted several times in Caesar's Commentaries. According to the latter, they would have massacred their Senate favorable to the Romans in 56 BC and would have joined the Unelles and the revolted Lexoviens. In 52 BC, they provided a contingent of three thousand men to the relief army. : Caesar (BG.(II, 34; III, 17, 29; VII, 4, 75; VIII, 7). Kruta: 72.
