Très beau denier sur un flan relativement large avec des types assez bien centrés permettant d’avoir les légendes complètes. Patine grise,un peu plus sombre par endroits

Avec une typologie inhabituelle et de très belles légendes, ce denier reste pourtant sans équivalent. La légende du revers permet de poposer un rapprochement des monnaies du monétaire FREDERICVS (B. 4898-4902) pour VIRILIACVM (Virieux-le-Grand (Ain), Virey (Aube) ou Vrillé (Deux-Sèvres).

Many Merovingian coins, badly minted, with very poor or inexplicit epigraphy, cannot be attributed to a particular mint. Too rare coins unfortunately have the same problem. The attributions being based on often old works, a coin unknown at the time will often have difficulty in being attributed, unless it is possible to read the mint or find the name of the mint and compare with its production in the workshops where he minted coins....
