Les reliefs sont bien venus sur une bonne partie du type, sauf à 9 heures en raison d’une faiblesse de frappe. Une jolie patine grise recouvre cet exemplaire. Usure régulière

Des pièces obsidionales de 50 et de 25 sols furent frappées pendant le siège d'Aire. Sur la pièce de 50 sols le millésime est placé de part et d'autre de l'écu central, sur la pièce de 25 sols sous l'écu rond du droit.

ARTOIS - SIEGE OF AIRE-SUR-LA-LYS

The War of Spanish Succession was particularly rich in numismatic history. Many besieged cities minted siege coins, such as Aire-sur-La-Lys which was besieged by the allies in 1710. The obsidional coins of Aire bear all the arms of Goesbriand, governor of the city during the siege.
