Commentary

Feuardent nous indique “Ce grand méreau était donné pour avoir droit aux largesses instituées par Louis de Croix”. La valeur de douze patards correspond à deux cinquièmes de daldre soit une valeur relativement importante. On trouve dans le Supplément au Nobiliaire des Pays-Bas, et du comté de Bourgogne par Jean-Charles-Joseph De Vegiano, digitalisé en ligne par google un Herménégilde - Florent - Louis de Croix, Chanoine de l'Eglise Collégiale de Saint Pierre à Lille, qui est très probablement notre personnage.

Feuardent tells us “This large meridian was given to qualify for the largesse instituted by Louis de Croix”. The value of twelve patards corresponds to two-fifths of a daldre, which is a relatively large value. In the Supplement to the Nobility of the Netherlands and the County of Burgundy by Jean-Charles-Joseph De Vegiano, digitized online by Google, we find a Herménégilde - Florent - Louis de Croix, Canon of the Collegiate Church of Saint Pierre in Lille, who is most likely our character.
