Historical background

APULIA - TEATE

(4th - 2nd century BC)

Teate or Teanum Apulum (Teate of Apulia) is an Italic city of Oscan origin in Amulia. Elke is geographically located on the course of the Fortore. Successively under the influence of Velia and Tarentum, the city allied itself with the Samnites during the Second War. It came under Roman domination from 318 BC and remained loyal to Rome, even in the darkest hours of the Urbs after the defeat of Cannae in 216 BC..
