Magnifique exemplaire, sur un flan un tout petit peu court, mais d’un superbe style des deux côtés. Frappe vigoureuse et agréable patine grise et brillante

Avec ce type de revers, cet exemplaire est très proche du D140 de T. Abramson.
Ce revers correspond normalement à un droit avec une tête radiée ou une tête dite au porc-épic. Cette association de deux types de revers est caractéristique des mules (ou hybrides).

(7th - 8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
