Flan anciennement ébréché, avec des types de droit et de revers bien centrés et presque complets. Patine gris foncé, légèrement granuleuse

Commentary
Ce type avec l’oiseau posé sur une croix, parfois confondu avec des monnaies continentales, est assez commun ; il en existe surtout un grand nombre de variantes.
Cet exemplaire avec une croix entre deux annelets correspond exactement au n° 105 d’Oxford.
La légende du droit est difficile à interpréter, probablement une dégénérescence géométrique (?).

(7th - 8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
