Monnaie de frappe molle, avec les types complets, mais avec un défaut de métal au centre du droit et un revers assez confus, mal frappé. Sinon patine grise, un peu granuleuse

Tous les exemplaires publiés semblent avoir un annelet derrière la tête du monstre. Cette série, pourtant rare, semble avoir une multitude de variantes.

If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
