Commentary
La médaille, conservée dans un écrin rouge (abîmé sur les coins) timbré d’un monogramme couronné et entouré d’un liseré, avec feutrine et soie violette timbrée MAISON AUMOITTE STERNE / GRAVEUR HERALDIQUE / 47 PASSAGE PANORAMAS / PARIS, a été décernée aux noms des époux : Constantin Vincent, Prince Radziwill (1850-1920) et Marie Louise Blanc (1854-1911). Constantin Vincent est un descendant d’une des plus anciennes et riches familles lituano-polonaises. Marie Louise Blanc est la fille de François Blanc, fondateur de la Société des bains de mer de Monaco.

LOVE AND MARRIAGE
It was customary in the past to give a treizain during the wedding mass. This treizain was blessed and signified entry into a community of property for the married couple. The treizain, which later became a medal or wedding token, was so called in honor of Jesus Christ and the twelve apostles. This practice continued until the first half of the 20th century. The reference work on the subject is the work of Jules Florange, Love and marriage in numismatics, Moulins, 1936 now replaced by that of Henri Térisse, La Numismatique du Mariage, Argenton-sur-Creuse 2008.
