Bronze bien identifiable, sur un flan régulier, mais avec des reliefs très émoussés et une patine poreuse

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Tête à droite, avec une chevelure aux mèches dites aquitaniques.
Reverse
Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Cheval libre bondissant à droite, un petit cheval (à la crinière bouletée) à gauche entre les jambes ; et une sorte d’écureuil assis sur la croupe du cheval principal.
Commentary
Ce genre de bronze correspond au DT. 498, copiant clairement la drachme biturige LT. 6017 en orientant le droit dans l’autre sens, mais en en conservant parfaitement le style !
Ce bronze est intéressant, avec une sorte d’écureuil-aurige proche de certaines drachmes attribuées aux Carnutes qui peuvent dès lors être considérées comme le prototype de ce rare bronze (?).
This kind of bronze corresponds to DT. 498, clearly copying the biturige drachma LT. 6017 by orienting the right in the other direction, but perfectly retaining the style! This bronze is interesting, with a sort of squirrel-chariot close to certain drachmas attributed to the Carnutes which can therefore be considered as the prototype of this rare bronze (?)

Their name, "those who are on both sides of the river", indicates that the Ambiens, people of Belgian Gaul, occupied both banks of the Somme (Samara). Their territory corresponds to the current department of the Somme. Their neighbors were the Calètes, the Morins, the Atrébates, the Bellovaques. Their main oppidum was Samarobriva (near Amiens). They participated in the coalition of the Belgian peoples in 57 BC and provided a contingent of ten thousand men. In 52 BC, it was a contingent of five thousand men that they gave for the relief army dedicated to clearing Alesia. Caesar (BG. II, 4, 15; VII, 75; VIII, 7). Strabo (G. IV, 5). Kruta: 68, 110, 366.
