Obverse description : Tête humaine à gauche, la chevelure disposée en deux rangées de mèches.


Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Cheval libre passant à gauche ; au-dessus, tête coupée de face ; devant le cheval deux annelets pointés.


Cette variété avec le cheval à gauche était inédite en 1977. Au revers, il semble bien s’agir d’une tête coupée alors que sur le type (DT. 391), nous avions les restes d’un buste avec un torque, placé sous la tête.

Ambiens (Region Amiens)

(Second - first century BC)

Their name, "those on both sides of the river," said the Ambiens, people of Gaul Belgium, occupied both banks of the Somme (Samara). Their territory is the current department of the Somme. They had for neighbors Calètes, the Morini, Atrebates, the Bellovaci. Their main oppidum was Samarobriva (near Amiens). They participated in the coalition Belgian peoples 57 BC and furnished a contingent of ten thousand men.
