(18/08 / 1765-20 / 02/1790)

Joseph II (13/03 / 1741-20 / 021790) is the eldest son of Maria Theresa of Austria and Francis III of Lorraine. He received the imperial crown at the death of his father in 1765 and succeeded to the rest of possessions at the death of his mother in 1780. Twice married, he had no children and his brother Leopold II, who succeeded him in 1790 at the beginning of the French revolution. He is the brother of Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI.
