Frederick II of Hesse-Kassel (German Landgraf Friedrich II. Von Hessen-Kassel), born August 14, 1720 in Kassel, where he died October 31, 1785, at Castle Weißenstein (now Wilhelmshöhe). He was Landgrave of Hesse-Cassel from 1760 to 1785. Son of William VIII of Hesse-Cassel and Dorothea Saxe-Zeist (Sachsen-Zeitz) he married in 1740 Marie of Hanover (1723-1772), daughter of George II Britain and Caroline of Brandenburg-Ansbach..
