GERMANY - BRANDENBURG FRANCONIA - FREDERICK OF ANSBACH

(1495-1515)

After the extinction of the Ascanian dynasty founded by Albert de Ballenstedt, known as Albert the Bear, Brandenburg fell into the bosom of the house of Bavaria in 1323 then of Luxembourg in 1373. On April 30, 1415, the Emperor Sigismund granted the title of margrave of Brandenburg to the burgrave of Nuremberg, Frederick of Hohenzollern, in gratitude for services rendered. The latter obtained the title of elector in 1417. Brandenburg remained in the house of Hohenzollern until November 1918. The Reformation was introduced there in 1539. Frederick, margrave of Ansbach, was the brother of John Cicero and the son of Albert Achille who died in 1486.
