Reverse legend : [VIRT]V[S AVG]/ S|C.

Reverse description : Virtus (la Virilité) en habits militaires, debout à gauche, tenant une branche d’olivier de la main droite et une haste de la main gauche.

Emilian was governor of Moesia in 252, when Trebonian Galle entrusted him with the mission of repelling the Goths who had broken the Danubian limes. Emilien succeeds; he is proclaimed emperor by his troops. He marched on Italy and challenged Trebonian Galle and Volusian at Terni. Recognized by the Senate, he was finally assassinated in Spoleto by his soldiers who joined Valerian I.
