Reverse description : Pannonia (la Pannonie) debout de face, tournée à gauche, drapée, tenant un vexillum de la main droite et relevant un pan de sa robe de la main gauche.

Commentary


Pour Aélius, nous ne pouvons pas distinguer les dupondius des as car le César est toujours tête nue. Cependant d’après le poids et le module, nous pouvons imaginer que notre exemplaire est bien un dupondius (13,09 g) plutôt qu’un as.

Caesar

Aélius receives the title of Caesar at the very end of 136. Consul in 137, he becomes Lucius Ælius Verus and is sent as governor to Pannonia in 137. Sick, he returns to Rome and dies on January 1, 138.
