ACHAIA - ACHAEAN LEAGUE - PATRAS (PATRA)

(2nd - 1st century BC)

Patras was the main port of Achaia. Very old city, it sided with Athens during the Peloponnesian War. It was then under the control of the Macedonians. The city was destroyed in 146 BC Free city under Augustus, it welcomed the veterans of the Xth and XIIth legions and took the name of Colonia Augusta Achaia Patrensis.
