Commentary

Sujet de perplexité, ce jeton porte la date de 1832, donc sous Louis-Philippe mais porte l’effigie de Louis XVIII, et ce jeton est sans poinçon alors qu’il aurait dû, en 1832, porter celui à la lampe sauf si ce jeton a été frappé entre le 1er janvier et le 29 mars, lorsque les poinçons n’étaient pas encore obligatoires.
A matter of perplexity, this token bears the date 1832, therefore under Louis-Philippe but bears the effigy of Louis XVIII, and this token is without a hallmark whereas in 1832 it should have borne the one with the lamp unless this token was struck between January 1 and March 29, when hallmarks were not yet obligatory.
