Commentary

Paire de photographies sépia des maquettes, recto et verso unifaces sans aucun texte. Sur celle du verso la valeur faciale est ajoutée par collage afin de visualiser le rendu du positionnement de la valeur. Ce sont les plus anciennes photographies de maquettes connues à ce jour, elles démontrent que la BdF utilisait la photographie dès le XIXe pour la création de ses billets. .
A pair of sepia photographs of the mock-ups, front and back, single-sided and without any text. On the back photograph, the face value has been added by pasting to visualize how the value would be positioned. These are the oldest known photographs of mock-ups to date, demonstrating that the Bank of France used photography as early as the 19th century for the creation of its banknotes.
