ÉPREUVE du verso en couleurs sur grande feuille sans filigrane du 5 F Amphitrite et Pêcheur, type 1949. Ce projet de William Fel destiné à remplacer le 5 Francs Berger ne sera pas émis et cette petite valeur sera abandonnée jusqu’au passage aux nouveaux francs.
Le recto présentant Amphitrite est connu par des essais en 1954. Ces essais atypiques, avec une valeur faciale de 1000 F reprennent la vignette Amphitrite en l’agrandissant et avec une impression en offset (pas de gravure et impression 4 couleurs) à l’identique.
Cette vignette du verso, gravée avec impression en quadrichromie, présente un pécheur ainsi que des embarcations et reprend dans les coins les coquilles Saint Jacques du recto. Format feuille 23,5cm x 14cm, vignette : 9cm x 5,5cm.

A color proof of the reverse side on a large sheet without a watermark of the 5 Franc Amphitrite and Fisherman stamp, type 1949. This design by William Fel, intended to replace the 5 Franc Berger stamp, was never issued, and this small denomination was abandoned until the introduction of the new francs. The obverse featuring Amphitrite is known from trials in 1954. These atypical trials, with a face value of 1000 Francs, reproduce the Amphitrite vignette, enlarged and printed identically using offset printing (no engraving, four-color process). This reverse vignette, engraved and printed in four-color process, depicts a fisherman and boats, and features the scallop shells from the obverse in the corners. Sheet size: 23.5cm x 14cm; vignette size: 9cm x 5.5cm. Extremely rare. The only known example of this vignette.
