Commentary

FAUX. Affaire Bojarski (1964).
COUNTERFEIT. Bojarski Affair (1964). Exceptional set of three banknotes, same alphabet, same letter: N.147. The middle one, number 75801, is a Bojarski counterfeit stamped by the \\\"National Central Office for the Repression of Counterfeiting\\\" and bearing on the back the signature of Divisional Commissioner Émile Benhamou, the lead investigator in the Bojarski case. The other two are genuine. Bringing together these three banknotes is a remarkable achievement and constitutes a collection worthy of a museum. Exemplary provenance: Bojarski Counterfeit: Pinon Auction in Tours, September 2008, lot 285. Price realized: €5,740 against an estimate of €1,500.
