(1304-1337)

Guillaume I is the son of Jean II d'Avesnes, Count of Hainaut and of Philippine, daughter of Count Henri II of Luxembourg. He married in 1305 to Jeanne de Valois, daughter of Charles I of Valois. He died in 1337 and his daughter William II succeeded him.
