Commentary


Poids léger. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Diadème perlé orné de petits motifs. Bijou formé d’un cabochon rond. Fibule d’attache ronde. Ptéryges fines sous le paludamentum.

Valens, after having been proclaimed august by his brother, receives the charge of governing the East. Since Decius, he is the first emperor killed in battle by the Goths in Adrianople, August 9, 378.
