THESSALIE - Gomphi

(IV - III century BC)

Gomphi is located southwest of Trikka. The city made its appearance in the fourth century with the help of Philip II of Macedon who is interested in the affairs of Thessaly. Under the city's middle name Philippopolis in honor of the Macedonian. Entry into the Macedonian orbit, it came out in 196 BC during the proclamation of the Greek cities at the Isthmian Games. It served as the basis for Romans during the Macedonian war against Perseus.
