Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, bombé, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Très beau portrait expressif d’Antiochus IV. Revers tout à fait inhabituel. Belle patine marron foncé

Reverse description : Ba’al-Berit (Poséidon) nu jusqu’à la ceinture debout à gauche, tenant une patère de la main droite (phiale) et un trident de la main gauche.

(175-164 BC)

Antiochus IV was the youngest son of Antiochus III. He had been sent to Rome as a hostage after the Peace of Apamea. He fought the Egyptians, ravaged the Temple of Jerusalem and won several victories over Ptolemy VI Philometor (180-145 BC).
