Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, légèrement décentré sur la légende au revers. Très beau portrait de Septime Sévère. Revers de style fin bien venu à la frappe, mais de frappe un peu molle. Patine vert foncé

Commentary


Buste très particulier avec le paludamentum qui semble posé sur une tête laurée. Un seul ruban visible. Ptéryges invisibles sous le paludamentum.

SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS

Septimius Severus was born in 146 in Leptis Magna in Africa (Libya). After a brilliant military career under the reigns of Marc Aurèle and Commodus, he was consul suffect in 185. At the time of Pertinax's death, he was governor of Upper Pannonia.
