Commentary

Semble complètement inédite et non recensé. Nous ne sommes pas en présence d’un sceau. L’aspect monétiforme semble avéré avec une impression en creux de ce qui pourrait être le revers au lieu du droit. D’un point de vue métrologique, cet objet semble étalonné sur le poids de la silique.

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 after a co-regency from April 4 to August 1, 527. He reigned with Empress Theodora. The construction of Hagia Sophia was completed under his reign, which marks the height of the Byzantine conquests.
