Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle sur un flan large et bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Très beau portrait de Gordien III. Joli revers de style fin. Patine grise avec des reflets dorés. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Obverse description : Buste radié, drapé et cuirassé de Gordien à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A2).

Poids lourd. Buste large. Rubans de type 3. Pour ce type nous avons deux variétés de représentation pour le revers, la nôtre étant la plus rare.

Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238. At the request of the people of Rome, he is chosen as Caesar by Balbin and Pupian and succeeds them after their assassinations.
