Potin sur un flan court, avec un penon de coulée très important dans l’alignement du bandeau au droit. Revers un peu confus. Patine sombre et granuleuse

Obverse description : Tête ceinte d’un bandeau à gauche, la chevelure indiquée par trois mèches, le cou par trois petits traits.

Reverse description : Sanglier enseigne à gauche, la queue recourbée ; hampe en forme de T aux branches pointées et surmontée d’un gros globule.

Commentary

Ce potin sans aucun globule sur les soies appartient à la classe Ik1. Les exemplaires de la classe Ik ont la particularité d’avoir une hampe en forme de T aux branches pointées et surmontée d’un gros globule.

The Leuques are mentioned only once in the Gallic Wars. Their neighbors were the Médiomatriques, the Lingons and the Séquanes. The Leuques as well as the Séquanes and the Lingones provided Caesar with wheat when the Roman army stopped at Vesontio (Besançon) to refuel before facing the Germans of Ariovistus (58 BC).
