Beau petit bronze, sur un flan court et ovale, avec les types complets. Agréable patine vert clair

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Au-dessus d'un rameau qui traverse le champ, petit sanglier et cheval (qui retourne la tête) face à face ; les animaux sont entourés d’annelets centrés.

Reverse


Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Sanglier enseigne à droite ; sous le groin, une rouelle ; sous le sanglier, deux petits annelets superposés.

Commentary


Ce bronze correspond au DT. 2458A, mais avec un gros annelet pointé au-dessus des animaux (au droit comme au revers).

GALLIA - AULERCI EBUROVICES (Area of Évreux)

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The Aulerci were subdivided into three tribes: Aulerci Diablintes, Aulerci Cenomani and Aulerci Éburovices. The territory of Aulerques Éburovices corresponds to the current department of Eure. They are quoted several times in Caesar's Commentaries. According to the latter, they would have massacred their Senate favorable to the Romans in 56 BC and would have joined the Unelles and the revolted Lexoviens. In 52 BC, they provided a contingent of three thousand men to the relief army. : Caesar (BG.(II, 34; III, 17, 29; VII, 4, 75; VIII, 7). Kruta: 72.
