EUDES

(29/02/888-01/01/898)

Eudes (860-898) is the first Robertian king, son of Robert the Strong (866), Marquis of Neustria. Eudes, Count of Paris in 882, heroically defended the city against the Normans during the siege to 885-887. Elected and crowned in 888, he was crowned at Compiègne. From this coronation, a struggle that will last ten years contrasted with Charles the Simple, the posthumous son of Louis II le Begue. Charles was crowned in 893. Eudes Charles chose as his successor and died in 898. The fight will last another century between Carolingian and Robertian before Hugh Capet, Duke of the Franks becomes the first Capetian king.
