Exemplaire sur un flan bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Beau portrait de style fin. Joli revers de style fin. Une fine patine grise recouvre l’exemplaire avec des reflets dorés

Commentary


Rubans de type 3. M. Prieur fait remarquer qu’un tissu est posé sur le trône, il pourrait s’agir du paludamentum (manteau de pourpre rouge du général victorieux, puis de l’empereur). Sur cet exemplaire, le casque corinthien est très bien représenté.

Caesar under Titus

Domitian receives the title of Caesar, therefore heir to the Empire, at the same time as his brother Titus in December 69. He is proclaimed "Princeps Iuventutis" (Prince of Youth), a title he retains even after death of his father in 79. After the death of his brother Titus on September 13, 81, he became emperor. His reign lasted fifteen years and ended with his assassination by members of the court..
